ABA Job Description

 

HISTORIAN

 

BASIC FUNCTION

Sees that ABA history and records are maintained and information made available to members as required.

 

HISTORIAN QUALIFICATIONS

               1. Have an interest in maintaining ABA history and records.

               2. Have time and interest in filling requests for information from members.

Current Procedures

    

Historian

 

1. Keeps and preserves historical records of the ABA.

2. Keeps a complete file of all Bell Towers.

3. Keeps all available researched material written by members, published books on bells, and other materials of value to members.

4. Stores a portion of Past President's pins.

5. Makes an index of material under each category in the historian’s files.

6. Makes available to members, upon request, copies of any material on file.

7. Insures that all loaned materials are returned in accordance with established library rules. When possible, copies should be made and the requesting member charged for same.

8. All purchases must be approved by the Executive Board.

9. Update past President's resume at the end of each term.

10. Remit to Treasurer all expenses, with receipts, when the job is completed but no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st. Committees whose budgets are large, remit expenses with receipts for payment periodically and send in any remaining expense no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st.

11. Submit four copies of annual report to ABA Recording Secretary at the Executive Committee meeting held before the annual convention; if not attending convention, send four copies of annual report to the President three weeks before convention.

12. Attend Executive Committee meeting chaired by President on day before convention.
