BASIC FUNCTION

To expand ABA membership throughout the world

1. Interest in researching method to best advertise ABA

2. Ability to develop ABA membership marketing ideas

3. Interest and aptitude in developing Public Relations' activities

4. Adept at developing ideas to create interest in bell collecting

Current Procedures

   

 Membership Expansion Committee Chairman

        

1. Hold Membership Expansion Committee meeting during convention and invite incoming Second Vice President and newly appointed committee member to the meeting. (Note: only one meeting is held)

2. Approve minutes of meeting and distribute a copy to all who attended the meeting.

3. Acknowledge donations to Membership Expansion Committee and twice yearly, inform Bell Tower Editor.

4. Prepare articles for The Bell Tower, as needed.

5. Place advertisements in national/local publications, and continue to research new ways to advertise ABA to the general public such as bell displays, chapter publicity, etc. The ABA Address:  7210 Bellbrook Drive; San Antonio, TX  78227-1002and http//www.americanbell.org, are to be the only addresses on all advertisements and other publicity material.

6. Along with committee members, continue to update address lists o fnational/local publications as well as antique malls/shops/stores where fliers and news release can be sent.

7. Maintain adequate supplies of Membership Promotion Pamphlets and ABA cards and distribute to chapters and/or members upon request. Bring a supply of these items to convention for placement on the Special Services table.

8. Appraise expansion growth resulting from inquiries, pamphlets, internet, Bell Tower Standing Committee, and cards and record names of new members from each source. Review on a yearly basis to determine the number of new members who have renewed their membership.

9. Remit to Treasurer all expenses, with receipts, when the job is completed but no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st. Committees whose budgets are large, remit expenses with receipts for payment periodically and send in any remaining expense no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st.

10. Submit four copies of annual report to ABA Recording Secretary at the Executive Committee meeting held before the annual convention; if not attending convention, send four copies of annual report to the President three weeks before convention.

11. The Chairman shall attend Executive Committee meeting chaired by President on day before convention.

12. Members of the committee will receive a copy of the Current Procedures from the Job Description Committee.
