ABA Job Description
PARLIAMENTARIAN
BASIC FUNCTION
Advises the President on proper parliamentary procedure at all times and is present at the plenary meetings to advise.
PARLIAMENTARIAN QUALIFICATIONS
1. Shall be versed in parliamentary procedures
2. Have thorough knowledge of the Bylaws and Standing Rules and Robert's Rules of Order
3. Be available at convention plenary sessions to advise the President

Article X - Duties of Officers and District Representatives
Article XI - Terms of Office for Appointees
Article XII - Duties of Appointees
Current Procedures
Parliamentarian
1. Become familiar with the ABA Bylaws and Standing Rules
2. Review the latest Robert's Rules of Order. If the latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order was not received from the previous parliamentarian, purchase the latest and pass it on to the next parliamentarian
3. Advise the President on proper parliamentary procedure when necessary
4. Attend plenary meetings to advise President and at any other time at the
President's request
5. Although not having a vote, reply to all motions or letters received from the President
6. Advise the Charter, Bylaws, and Standing Rule Committee, when requested, so conflicts between proposed changes and parliamentary rules can be avoided.
7.Remit to Treasurer all expenses, with receipts, when the job is completed but no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st Committees whose budgets are large, remit expenses with receipts for payment periodically and send in any remaining no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st
