ABA Job Description

 

TAX CONSULTANT

 

BASIC FUNCTION

 Prepare the Federal Income Tax Form 990 and any necessary returns for each fiscal year. Obtain the President's signature on the form and submit to the IRS before the due date. Provide tax information when requested.

 

TAX CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS

   1. Be knowledgeable on Federal Tax requirements for non-profit organizations.

   2. Be prompt in submitting required forms

Current Procedures

 

Tax Consultant

 

1. Receive the fiscal year quarterly financial reports from the treasurer by May 31st.

2. Summarize the quarterly reports to produce an annual summary.

3. Prepare Federal Income Tax Form 990 for fiscal year ending March 31st currently.

      As of March 31st 1994, a state tax return is not required.

4. Submit completed Form 990 to the Treasurer for signature (copy to President and Legal Advisor) and submission to the IRS Tax Department on or before August 15th, the due date of the return.

5. Remit to treasurer all expenses, with receipts and necessary details no later than end of fiscal year, March 31st.

6. Submit four copies of annual report to ABA Recording Secretary at the Executive Committee meeting held before the annual convention; if not attending, send four copies of annual report to the President three weeks before convention.
